English Main Book
This book is not medical advice. If red flags are present, seek medical care promptly.
Health Decisions for Families is for people who often need to make health judgments for themselves and family members: reading flagged lab results or preventive-visit notes, accompanying parents to visits, helping a child or partner sort urgency, organizing long-term health records, and recognizing persuasion in supplements and short-form health content.
Start with Start Here and read continuously. Every chapter ends with previous / next navigation; the web edition also provides a sidebar, search, and page outline.
The main book has moved beyond a "toolbox" into a family health decision reader: understanding body signals and making better choices. The web edition still supports looking things up as needed, while strengthening the continuous journey from body signals, risk lines, family coordination, and information defense.
Check Red Flags First
If there is chest pain or tightness, possible stroke, severe trouble breathing, altered consciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, sudden severe pain, severe allergic reaction, poisoning or injury, risk of self-harm or suicide, pregnancy or postpartum red flags, or a similar urgent situation, do not read the table of contents slowly. Start with Red Flags.
The Reading Journey
This book is not organized by medical specialty. It follows the order in which ordinary families actually meet health problems:
- What the body is saying. First know what cannot wait, then understand healthspan, risk curves, and checkup markers.
- The main lines worth watching. Metabolism, cardiovascular risk, sleep, brain and mental health, cancer, and specialty questions are the risk lines families meet again and again.
- Health becomes a family matter. Many health problems eventually land in records, visit support, follow-up, parent conversations, and caregiving roles.
- Do not let health information pull you around. Supplements, devices, tests, longevity marketing, new studies, and short videos keep interfering with family judgment.
Before The Book: Start And Boundaries
Part 1: What The Body Is Saying, From Signals To Markers
First translate health problems from "do I have a disease?" into the language of risk, function, and action.
- 1. Red Flags: Sort Urgency Before Searching For Disease Names
- 2. Healthspan: Who Is Your Body Counting Down For?
- 3. Checkup Markers: Not A Verdict, But A Language Of Risk
Part 2: The Main Risk Lines Worth Watching
At this point, many problems stop looking isolated: blood pressure, glucose, sleep, mood, mobility, screening, and specialty symptoms often connect to long-term risk lines and family action.
- 1. Metabolic Health: Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Glucose, And Uric Acid
- 2. Cardiovascular Event Chain: The Chain Reaction From Blood Pressure To Heart Attack
- 3. Common Upstream: Pull Risk Back Before It Becomes Disease
- 4. Sleep And Recovery: The Hidden Engineering Of Body Repair
- 5. Brain And Mental Health: First Look At Safety, Function, And Support
- 6. Cancer And Serious Illness: Find The Stage Before Fear Takes Over
- 7. Children And Adolescents: Body And Mind Grow Together
- 8. Common Specialty Problems: Improve Visit Quality, Do Not Become Your Own Doctor
Part 3: Health Becomes A Family Matter
After you understand risk, the hard part is execution: where the records are, who goes to visits, how to talk with parents, who records older-adult changes, and who reminds follow-up.
- 1. What A Family Health System Actually Manages: Facts And Boundaries, Not People
- 2. How To Prepare For A Medical Visit: Bring Facts Into The Room
- 3. Talking With Parents About Health: Do Not Turn Care Into Control
- 4. Older Adult Health And Care: Protect Daily Independence
Part 4: Do Not Be Pushed Around: Health Information Defense
Once the family has internal workflows, outside information still keeps arriving. This part handles another kind of risk: exaggerated promises, fear, mechanisms presented as effects, and tests packaged as reassurance.
- 1. Supplement Evidence Traps: "Trying It" Is Not Always Harmless
- 2. Health Devices, Tests, And Longevity Marketing: Numbers Do Not Automatically Make It Worth Buying
- 3. Health News, New Studies, And Short Videos: The More You Want To Act Immediately, The More You Should Slow Down
